Power Up the Future with the Gift of Education

Since 1924 women have graduated from our school with the power of a Catholic education. They have used this power to change their communities for the better through art, nursing, education, law, journalism, science and much more. The value of a Catholic education lasts beyond a lifetime. Your support directly helps the educational program for current students as they power up to help a world in need.

Your gift to BCLHS, regardless of the size, makes a difference. Please help to ensure that Catholic Education remains affordable for young women in Los Angeles so that they may become the women leaders they are meant to be.

In 1936 Frances Kent graduated Los Angeles Catholic Girls High School and entered the Order of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, taking Sister Mary Corita as her religious name.  During the 1960’s Sister Corita used her artwork as a call for issues of hope and social justice.  One popular piece, using a mixture of pop art and a sermon on spiritual fulfillment is Power Up.  Named by several publications as Woman of the Year or Woman of Accomplishment, Corita Kent used her powerful voice in art as a source of energy, beauty and joy.
