Description
This course introduces students to the study of literature, composition, grammar, and vocabulary at the high school level. Course work will focus on reading and analytical skills, language and vocabulary development, and writing. Essays will follow the writing process recommended by the California Standards. Students will make oral presentations and will write short poems in various forms. Students will begin to learn the reference/research skills needed to present written information in MLA format.

II. Answer questions about 2 characters that Miss Corso chooses.
III. Answer these questions about a character of your choice. (Anyone but Jem and
     Scout.)
     1) What do others say about the character?  Give details from the story.
     2) What do we learn about the character once we get to know him? Give
         details from the story.
III. Answer questions about the themes of Prejudice and Proper Parenting. 
     1)Give an example of a character who is prejudiced because of ignorance.
     2) Give an example of a character who is prejudiced because of hearsay.
     3) Give an exampl of a character who is prejudiced because of bitterness or   
        history.
     4) Be ready to list 10 things Atticus does that make him a proper parent.
