Description
The basic skills, rules, and strategies of various team sports are taught. Students learn while practicing techniques and participating in games. Fitness through exercise is a major emphasis of this course. Students explore the physical, mental, and social aspects of healthful living. Exercise, diet, nutrition, substance abuse, and sexually transmitted diseases are topics that are included.

Ongoing: Work on skit & script: Groups of 4 will write 4 scripts and create 4 skits for 4 topics (Chapter 2: Interpersonal Communication, Refusal Skills, Conflict Resolution, Traits of Good Character).  Groups will describe/narrate and act out (skit), and write a script for the material.

1) TYPE a summary about what you have learned about health from the gallery walk (posters): Pick 2 facts that you found interesting for each of the 5 topics (Promoting Health/Lifestyle Factors, Becoming Health Literate, Health "Triangle", Influences on your Health Part 1, and  Influences on your Health Part 2).  Write 2-3 sentences for each fact
Example:
Promoting Health/Lifestyle Factors:
     1) I found it interesting that a person needs 8-10 hours of sleep a night.  I do not get that much sleep, and need to adjust my schedule to get more sleep.  I think getting more sleep each night will help me concentrate more in school.
      2) I know it is important to avoid tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.  I think it is important to stay away from substances that will cause my body and mind damage.  I know that these things will adversely affect my health.
